The month of May 2019 was a big one for me: I finished my first year of university, completed all of my exams, moved home again and began a new summer job. Alongside all of these big life events I also made sure to make time for the little things, as those as just as important to me.

Mr Kate, right. Source: https://www.tubefilter.com/2017/05/09/entrepreneur-office-makeover-series-mr-kate-newfronts/
There isn’t a month that passes that I don’t unhealthily obsess over a particular youtube content creator on youtube. Seriously. Having sat all of my exams in the month of May, I decided to spend my time procrastinating watching revision you-tubers in an attempt to inspire me. One channel that never fails is the Rubygranger, the dedication that she has to her studies is amazing and its fair to say that her attitude normally guilts me into opening a book. Another channel that I’ve been watching on repeat is one that I had never heard of before until I stumbled across it. MrKate is an interior design channel thats ran by the cutest American couple. They both have the ability to take unimaginative and difficult spaces and transform them into a real-life pin from Pinterest and to watch the process is so satisfying. As I’ll be moving into a new flat in September, I’ve loved watching and taking note of all of their tips!

SOSU false eyelashes
I love false eyelashes. Are they necessary? No. Are they intense? Yes. Do I wear them most days. Yes! I’ll say it again, I love false eyelashes! Being from the Liverpool area, I grew up in a culture of fake tan and rollers and I’m extremely happy to say that as I emerged into adulthood I also refined by style. Having learnt how to unclasp my orange patchy hands from the tan bottle and learnt to brush my hair instead of backcombing it, I still can’t give my lashes up. I wear them so often they have just become a part of me and it’s not usual to see me wearing them daily. I have worn makeup for years, and actually really enjoy it. The problem is that the first time that I tried false lashes, I just feel that I’m not truly ready until I’ve glued that synthetic hair to my eyelids (weird). In particular, this month I’ve been loving the SOSU lashes that I buy from Primark. They’re five pounds a pair and come in a wide variety of styles, from dramatic to more natural and wispy. They’re extremely affordable considering that I get a good ten wears out of them. That being said, I get the longevity when I’m careful and take care of them (not ripping them off on my way home from a night out and attempting to give them to my uber driver as a tip).
Dreaming: now and forever
As I made the move back home at the end of May after completing my first year, I’ve been doing a lot of pondering about my future. I’ve been looking at many different opportunities that are available to me due to my flexible lifestyle as a student and I’ve enjoyed dreaming of the things that I could potentially experience over the next few years. In particular I’ve been researching the Disney Exchange Program, Camp America and TEFL programs (teaching English as a foreign language). Also don’t forget my constant dreaming of what I’d do with the money if I won the lottery (although I never enter). I’ll never stop dreaming, but this month has definitely been one that I spent with my head in the clouds rather than my feet on the ground.
Apple music: ‘In my room’ playlist
I recently made the switch the Apple Music (my other Spotify subscription on a deal ran out), as they offer a UNIDAYs student membership. I love a good playlist and since I found the ‘In my room’ one I’ve listened to it nearly every day for the past month. It’s chill acoustic vibe has made my many train journeys back and forth from Edinburgh to home bearable, and for that Apple music I salute you.
